"May I join you?"

This is Ava's preferred line when she wants to make a new friend.  Occasionally this is met with a bemused stare followed by a somewhat hasty retreat.  But more often than not, it's the opening for a sliding, swinging, giggling, hand-holding good time.  I'm in awe of her confidence every time I watch this scene play out.  What a beautiful life she'll lead if pals are always this easy to come by.

Aunt Marianne was in town over the long weekend, so we decided an outing to the local water park was in order, and true to form Ava was surrounded by new friends.  To avoid being the creepy lady taking pictures of other people's children, I stuck to snapping pics of my little Social Butterfly when she was alone.

Lila, as always, was content to simply go along for the ride.  She spent much of the afternoon riding the lazy river with whoever was offering a lap to sit in, charming all the passerby with that killer smile.

On top of all that fun (and a somewhat sketchy-tasting lunch), Aunt Marianne rode a waterslide for the very first time.  A successful outing if there ever was one.

Good morning, friend!

When's the last time someone was this happy just because you got out of bed?

Lila slept in a bit this morning. On days like this, when I finally hit the top of the stairs with a sleepy little sister in my arms, I announce the girls to each other and watch the magic happen.  The resulting pile of smiley little girls is something special indeed.

Happy Wednesday.

Say aaaaahhhhhhhh!!!

Feeding Lila has become my new favorite thing to do.  Now, before you start in with the "get a hobby" comments on my Facebook page, allow me to explain.  As most of you know, Ava's taste in food is, shall we say, extremely discerning.  (Let's face it, she eats like 4 things.)  I'm a bit of a foodie, so a kid that's willing to try pretty much anything is kind of a dream come true for me.  Even more fun, Ava's gotten in on the action.  Every mealtime she begs for the chance to do this:

And Lila can't get enough.  Of the food, or her big sister.

Tonight we experienced a Rite of Passage meal.

No kid escapes childhood without a picture of themselves sporting a face full of spaghetti, so I was pretty jazzed to finally get this one on film.
